Her work and memory lives on

Mama Njere was always a revolutionary. She had a close connection with our activist Queen Mother Moore who she felt passed her the mantel to fight for reparations.  Mama Njere was inspired to commit her life's work to achieving social change and reparations for our people. We give thanks for her energy and consistency in moving all of us closer to the liberation of Afrikan people.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Alghanee family.

About Her Life
Njere was a devoted mother, wife and sister.  She loved her children with all her heart and was proud of each and every one of them.  She taught them to remember who they are, where they came from and what they must do. She also taught them to contribute to our struggle.  Her love for her people permeated her thoughts and this love transferred not only to her children and family but everyone she touched.  She also believed that the elders and the youth must be taken care of.  She kept the name of Queen Mother Moore alive.  She would often say “Queen Mother Moore told us don’t weary and don’t error.”

One of Njere’s greatest commitments and love was the National Coalition of Blacks for Reparations in America (NCOBRA).  She joined and worked hard as a member.  She was elected as the national secretary of the organization.  She took this job seriously.  She maintained and protected the records of the organization for three terms.  She later was elected as the National Female Co-chair of the organization.  She traveled around the country organizing and making the demand for reparations.

Njere earned her B.A.in Liberal Arts with a major in mass communications from Wayne State University. She also earned an A.A. in Early Childhood Education. Njere was the cooperative owner of NoName Roots Freedom Shule and the cooperative owner of Saba Shule. Over the years Mama Njere’s professional life reflected her deep commitment to the liberation of Afrikan people. She was the Assistant Director of Georgia Citizen’s Coalition on Hunger, Executive Director of Georgia Advocates for Battered Women and Children, Southern Region Coordinator for the Million Women’s March. Mama Njere worked with the Empress of Zion (Rastafarian Women), Queen Mother Moore’s Foundation, New Afrikan Women’s Organization, and countless other liberation collectives. Mama Njere was a popular radio personality for WRFG where she consistently spoke truth to power. Before her transition, Mama Njere worked diligently for Disabled in Action.

Mama Njere embodied the best of our movement: diligence, commitment, dedication and love! Njere Alghanee was known as Sister Courage a title she well deserved and a title so fitting for a Warrior Queen!
